NEW REVIVAL CHARISMATIC MINISTRIES
OUR STORY
New Revival Charismatic Ministry (N.R.C.M) is a kingdom-minded charismatic Christian family with a shared goal of raising a dynamic and Spirit-led army for God. Currently set in Ghana with five (5) branches and further plans advanced to extend beyond the shores of the country, the church has undergone a series of notable developments since its inception to date.
In 1991, while waiting upon the Lord, Apostle Kwame Gyamfi had a vision of Jesus Christ and his life was never the same again. He received his calling and was gifted with the unction to operate under the five-fold ministry (namely apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher). Prior to this moment, he had served under a host of ministers and had, over the period, amassed a great wealth of experience in ministry as an usher, prayer tower leader, home cells leader and praise and worship leader among others.
At the time of his calling, he was a fully-fledged member of the Deliverance Hour Ministry, Kumasi and was serving in the capacity of a trainee pastor under the then minister of the house, Rev. Y. T. Boakye. When the latter died in 1993, Rev. Kwame, who had remained faithful to him all throughout the years, moved on and committed to another ministry in the shape of New Anointing Ministry headed by Rev. Kwame Agyekum.
In 1994, Rev. Kwame Gyamfi followed the innate promptings of the Holy Ghost to set up an all-believers fellowship. This he did along with a pastor friend and associate who became his co-founder. This was intended to be the beginning of a beautiful partnership in the Lord. The fellowship, which they christened ‘House of Revival’, began in earnest with a small group of believers who held mid-week meetings at the Lebanon club house in Bantama, Kumasi. Simultaneously, a branch of ‘House of Revival’ was installed in Dansoman, Accra where his pastor friend and associate took charge. Over the course of several months, Rev. Kwame travelled regularly to Accra to officiate services and undertake revivals. The membership in Accra soared tremendously under the hand of the Lord to over five hundred (500) members in regular attendance. The mid-week prophetic and deliverance services officiated by both Rev. Gyamfi and his co-founder was rapidly becoming the talk of town and the Holy Ghost move to draw in both believers and unchurched was enormous.
In sharp contrast, the branch in Kumasi which had initially shot up had hit a snag. The trustees of the Lebanon club house in early 1995 were bent on terminating the lease of the premises issued to the fellowship. The fellowship was no longer allowed meetings and as a result, its membership was rapidly declining. A search for a new place of meeting was indeed daunting and largely unproductive at the time. Consequently, the eldership of the branch in Accra requested that Rev. Kwame come over to Dansoman to team up with his co-founder in the interim while the former worked to regroup, re-strategize and secure a new place in Kumasi.
In a rather shocking development, his co-founder went against the word of the eldership and asked for a split up of the fellowship, instructing Rev. Kwame to keep the Kumasi-based branch even as he also ran the branch in the national capital independently.
When deliberations to resolve the issue proved futile, Rev. Kwame redefined his focus and concentrated his efforts solely on finding a more suitable premise. Finally, a facility at North Suntreso, an adjoining vicinity in the metropolis, was sorted out and Rev. Kwame began from scratch again.
Though the climate seemed unpromising at first, Rev. Kwame continued to conduct services. No sooner had regular meetings been restored than the fellowship started to grow in numbers again.
Contemplating starting Sunday services all this while, Rev. Kwame finally commenced on the 7th of December, 2000. Although the fellowship had a membership of over a hundred (100) in regular attendance, a small group of people numbering fifteen (15) were in attendance on the first Sunday and in this respect, became the founding class and the first true members of New Revival Charismatic Ministry. Within the same period, Rev. Kwame sought counsel before the Lord regarding a new name for the infant ministry. He was given the name New Revival by the Holy Ghost with the promise that a new and mighty revival would come to the land from God by his hand.
In 2001, he enrolled at the Association of Evangelical Gospel Assemblies (A.E.G.A) Bible school in Kumasi and formally began pursuing a course in Theology. Upon completion of his study in 2002, Kwame Gyamfi was ordained as reverend minister by Bishop Nicholas Asare of the C.B.C. Subsequently, Rev. Kwame Gyamfi together with the eldership of NRCM commenced aggressive soul winning campaigns, outreaches and intensive radio broadcasts, which have become common order since.
Notably, the search for a more convenient place of worship would continue all through the decade as the eldership of the church would go on to engineer further relocations to a classroom facility at the Akosa M/A J.S.S at North Suntreso and a housing structure at Nwamasi in December 2000.
In May 2004, the church became a beneficiary of the charity of a plot of land in Kwadaso-Edwenase by one of its philanthropic members. The church put up a new auditorium at the premises in September 2004, which became its headquarters for the next nine (9) years. Upon the demise of the benefactor in 2009, the church was dragged into a protracted legal tussle between his children and his extended family triggered to determine the rightful legatees to his estate and this spanned for 4 years.
Desirous to be rid of the legal wrangle and any ramifications it might hold for the ministry at any future time, Apostle Kwame Gyamfi motioned for the vacation of the auditorium and relocation to a permanent worship centre in March 2013.
Finally, in December 2013, the church willfully opted for and pushed through a move to a more urban suburb in the shape of Patasi, which is now our current location. A 150 – seater auditorium with two adjoining offices has been structured to house the church in the interim. An architectural plan has been procured; arrangements are being made; and funds are still being solicited for the construction of a 1000 – seater auditorium for the Lord at the current location.
Over the course of NRCM’s history, Apostle Kwame Gyamfi has also committed to the mentorship and pastoral training of several ministers and associate pastors in the bid to further advance the kingdom expansion agenda. Some of these ministers, in return, have made substantive and telling contributions to the NRCM’s vision, achievements, spiritual development and network of four (4) branches in addition to its headquarters. In this respect, special mention must be made of the enigmatic and spirited servants of the Lord who came into the sheepfold, rose through the ranks and stuck to the noble vision through fair and foul weather. Prophet Kwame Boadi became the associate pastor of NRCM in and along with Apostle Kwame Gyamfi, setup the first NRCM branch in 2004 at Goaso in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. Again, in 2005, NRCM extended to the Obuasi municipality of the Ashanti region of Ghana. Rev. Lloyd Nana Poku took charge of the branch concurrently. He was later joined by Rev. Forson as his associate and their association has soared ever since. Similarly, Rev. Samuel Amoako was placed in charge of the Bibiani branch which had been setup 3 years prior whereas Rev. John Mensah pastored the founding class of NRCM, Bokankye in 2012. They have never looked back since.
Rev. Coleman DeGraft, Lady Rev. Mrs. Monalisa Gyamfi and Rev. Michael Opoku remain infallible members of the NRCM pastoral board, having served at its headquarters in Kumasi over the last decade and still do serve.
In all, these judicious men of God dedicated themselves to the divine assignment of propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ, church planting, faith healing and deliverance for the afflicted people of God among others and through exertion and sacrifice, have given their all to NRCM throughout the span of its 14-year history.
New Revival Charismatic Ministry (N.R.C.M) has come a long way since its inception and continues to grow in spiritual strength and numbers. A lot more remains to said and written about our charismatic family of believers as the years roll by.
