Postgraduate study in Law Master of Laws (LLM) Degree, University of London


GIALS offers teaching towards the degree of Master of Laws of the University of London. This higher degree is open to those who have successfully completed the LLB degree. It provides opportunities to study important specialised areas beyond the scope of the undergraduate law degree. The LLM is particularly attractive to law graduates who pursue or intend to pursue an academic career and those who practice or intend to practice as lawyers in a particular field and who wish to have a firm academic grounding upon which to build their practical skills.

 

 

Structure and Content
The LLM degree consists of four courses. Specialisations for which we provide teaching and support include International business law Common law International criminal justice Maritime law Medicine and the law Law and development

 


Duration: Two academic years, full time, commencing in October of each year.
Students are to take examinations in two courses in the first academic year and two courses in the second year. Thereafter students who intend to follow an academic career will write dissertations on topics to be agreed with their supervisors.


Entry Requirements: A good honours degree in law or equivalent qualification.
